Robert Sinnerbrink

Robert Sinnerbrink is Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy at Macquarie University, Sydney. He was chair of the Australasian Society for Continental Philosophy (ASCP), member of the Sydney Society for Literature and Aesthetics as well as the International Association for Philosophy and Literature. He received the ARC Future Fellowship with the project "Cinematic Ethics: Exploring Ethical Experience through Film" (2014–2017).

Sinnerbrink is interested in cinematic ethics, aesthetics, film philosophy, phenomenology, and critical theory. Among his book publications are New Philosophies of Film: An Introduction to Cinema as a Way of Thinking (2022, 2nd edition), Terrence Malick: Filmmaker and Philosopher (2019) and Cinematic Ethics: Exploring Ethical Experience through Film (2016).
