Warren Buckland

Warren Buckland is Reader in Film Studies at Oxford Brookes University. His career as a film scholar began after he was awarded a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Film Studies in 1994. He spent time teaching at the University of Amsterdam, Liverpool John Moores University, and Chapman University/California.

Warren Buckland’s research areas include Film Theory, Narratology, and Contemporary Hollywood Cinema. His numerous publications include: Hollywood Puzzle Films (ed., 2014), The Routledge Encyclopedia of Film Theory (co-edited with Edward Branigan, 2013), Film Theory: Rational Reconstructions (2012), Puzzle Films (ed., 2009), Directed by Steven Spielberg (2006), and The Cognitive Semiotics of Film (2000). He is currently editing a collection of Christian Metz’s interviews, and is writing a monograph on Wes Anderson.
