Thomas Bartscherer is Peter Sourian Senior Lecturer in the Humanities at Bard College, New York. A primary focus of his work has been the intersection of literature and philosophy in antiquity and the reception of classical culture in modernity. Areas of specialization include aesthetics, political theory, Hannah Arendt, theater and performance as well as digital humanities. He is the author of "Mimetic Images, Double Vision, and Dramatic Poetry in Plato's Republic” (2015) and currently co-editing „The Life of the Mind: Thinking and Willing for the Complete Works/Critical Edition" concerning Hannah Arendt’s work. Bartscherer has published translations from German and French and is also co-editor of “Erotikon: Essays on Eros Ancient and Modern” (2005) and “Switching Codes: Thinking Through Digital Technology in the Humanities and the Arts” (2011), both from the University of Chicago Press.
